Henry's Notebook (Ypres 1916-1918)

"Who cares about the names and dates? Historians will take care of that some day. I will fill these pages as things come back to me...". This is how Phillipe Glogowski lets his hero, Henry Naylore, start his diary of the Great War 1914-1918. Henry himself and many of his generation didn't realise that he was writing history.

It is impossible to avoid war when visiting the Ieper area. The hundreds of cemeteries, monuments, and the scars remind us constantly of the war. In the Flanders Field Museum, in the heart of the rebuilt town, the visitor discovers the unfolding stories which are at the centre of  remembering this inhuman time. 

The pace town Ieper is hoping that this evidence of its own war past holds a universal message of peace. This excellent cartoon by Philippe Glogowski is on every page loyal to this thought and carries it out to a big new generation.
